Buc-ee’s adding huge $6M car wash to Temple store on Interstate 35

Last week, Buc-ee’s registered a project to add a $6 million car wash tunnel to its Temple store, located on the north side of the city, about 30 miles south of Waco on Interstate 35, according to an April 11 filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

Construction on the car wash tunnel will begin on May 1, with an estimated completion date of September 30, according to the TDLR filing. The size of the project is listed at 5,647 square-feet.

The Temple Buc-ee’s is one of seven locations with $6 million car wash construction projects filed since last summer. The Texas City, Baytown, New Braunfels, Terrell, Fort Worth, and Royse City stores also registered identically budgeted projects with TDLR.

The largest car wash in the world, according to Buc-ee’s, is the one in Katy. However, a spokesperson for the Guinness Book of World Records refuted that claim last fall.

Back when we visited and ranked every Buc-ee’s in the state, Temple checked in at No. 16, partly because of how cramped it felt, even for a large store. Could the addition of a car wash bump the location up on MySA’s list? Will it just make everything more crowded? We’ll have to wait until October to find out.

Find it: 4155 N. General Bruce Drive, Temple, TX 76501
