Buffalo heads to Super Bowl with NFTA K-9 security team

The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority shared two trained canine officers will travel to New Orleans for security at Super Bowl LVIII.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo will be represented in the Super Bowl, no matter who wins the playoffs. The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority shared on Wednesday two of its trained canine officers have been chosen for security at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans for Super Bowl LVIII.

K-9’s Dok and Timmi will travel with their handlers Officer Mario Capozzi and Officer Mike Bogulski. The pairs will join a nationwide task force of law enforcement teams to make sure the game is safe for players, fans, and staff.

“This is a tremendous honor for our team,” said NFTA K-9 Lieutenant Lauren Zani in a release. “The Super Bowl represents one of the largest security operations in the country and our officers are ready to bring their unique skills to this event.”

The four-legged officers are part of NFTA’s K-9 unit, which specializes in explosive detection and public safety. Both K-9 officers are trained in Super Bowl security with Officer Capozzi working the 2021 Tampa game and Officer Bogulski working in 2019 in Atlanta and 2022 in Los Angeles.

Now, the officers said they just need the Buffalo Bills to join them at the game.
