Spider webs, ant strength and dragonfly flights? The DoSeum’s Bug Squad is bringing hands-on spring break fun to San Antonio.
SAN ANTONIO — Move over, Avengers. There’s a new squad in town — and they have six legs.
Just in time for spring break, The DoSeum has launched Bug Squad, a larger-than-life, hands-on exhibit that turns creepy crawlies into full-blown superheroes.
And this isn’t your average bug display.
Kids can slide their way out of a giant Spider Web Escape, test their “ant-strength” on an Ant Colony Climber, and even step into an immersive virtual experience that lets them feel what it’s like to fly like a dragonfly.
Yes, actually fly.
The touring exhibit, created by the Omaha Children’s Museum, features talking, animatronic Bug Squad members, each with its own superhero storyline. Along the way, kids learn about real-life bug abilities, from strength to speed, through play-based STEM activities designed to get them moving, imagining and exploring.
There’s even a critter-themed mural where young artists can add their own splash of creativity during The DoSeum’s Big Day of Play.
The exhibit runs now through April 5 and is included with regular admission.
So if your spring break plans need a little extra buzz, The DoSeum’s Bug Squad might just be the hero your family’s been waiting for.
