Bystander shot in face during altercation between 2 men in San Antonio, SAPD says

After one man in the altercation pistol whipped the other, an innocent bystander was shot through both of his cheeks and taken to a local hospital, SAPD says.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Police Department says an innocent bystander was shot in the face during an altercation between two men on the northwest side.

Around 4:30 p.m., officers responded to the 9100 block of Perrin Beitel after receiving reports of a shooting.

Preliminary information from SAPD suggests two men were in an altercation when one pulled out a handgun and pistol whipped the other.

When the pistol whip occurred, SAPD said the gun went off and struck an innocent bystander.

The bullet that allegedly struck the victim went “through and through” both of his cheeks, but police say he was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

SAPD said all males involved were approximately in their 30s or 40s and all charges are pending at this time as they work to uncover a suspect.

This is an ongoing investigation.
