KANSAS CITY, Mo. — There were fireworks early in the Texans playoff matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Sunday.
Houston won the toss and decided to kick off to Kansas City. The Chiefs’ Nikko Remigio took that opening kickoff down to the Houston 35-yard line. Houston’s Kris Boyd made the tackle on Remigio, forcing a fumble. KC recovered and would have had great starting field position. But it got worse for Houston.
After the play, Boyd threw his helmet off on the field, which led to a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, putting the Chiefs even closer.
But the fireworks didn’t end there. When Boyd returned to the sideline, he was seen shoving his special teams coach Frank Ross.
Fortunately for the Texans, the defense picked up where they left off last week, by holding Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs to a three-and-out. Kansas City had to settle for a field goal.
Boyd is in his first year with the Texans. The former Texas Longhorn was drafted by Minnesota in 2019, played five seasons for the Vikings, and then one with Arizona before coming to Houston.
