Deputies say they are concerned for the safety of 19-year-old Camila Mendoza Olmos due to mental health concerns as the search for her continues.
SAN ANTONIO — The search continues Tuesday for 19-year-old Camila Mendoza Olmos.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office says investigators have video showing who they believe is the teen walking along Wildhorse Parkway around 7 a.m. on Christmas Eve. Before that, Camila was last seen on camera standing in her driveway near her car.
On Monday, deputies focused their search efforts on wooded areas near Camila’s home. Authorities say the search will continue Tuesday.
Sheriff Javier Salazar said investigators believe Camila could be in imminent danger due to concerns about her mental health. However, he emphasized that deputies are not jumping to conclusions and are continuing to explore every possible scenario.
Camila’s mother believed her daughter was going on a normal morning walk, but she never returned home and left behind her phone. The newly released video of who authorities believe is Camila was made public Monday.
Sheriff Salazar said the Federal Bureau of Investigation assisted in examining Camila’s phone and an iPad she left behind. While he would not disclose specific findings, Salazar confirmed Camila had a history of depression and suicidal thoughts.
Camila’s father told KENS 5 he was unaware of her struggles. He has been separated from her mother for years but lives just a street away and says he last saw Camila the day before she went missing.
