‘Can’t wait to serve you again’ | The OG Burger Boy reopens April 1 in downtown San Antonio

The St. Mary’s location reopens on April Fools’ Day after an August 2025 fire.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio’s original Burger Boy location is reopening April 1 after a fire in August 2025 forced a temporary closure, according to a social media announcement.

The St. Mary’s location will welcome customers again Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. The first 10 drive-thru and walk-up customers will receive a free $50 gift card. Guests can also expect free cookies and merch while supplies last.

“We’re beyond excited to be back and can’t wait to serve you again. See you there,” Burger Boy said in the announcement.

The restaurant closed after a fire broke out nearly eight months ago in the 2300 block of North St. Mary’s Street. Firefighters responded around 11 p.m. on August 22 and quickly extinguished the flames, though the building sustained moderate damage.

Officials said the fire started in the kitchen and spread to the attic. All employees got out safely, and no injuries were reported. The Alamo City chain has been updating the public on the rebuild and revamp of its original location.
