SAN ANTONIO — Rock legend Carlos Santana was “taken in for observation” at a San Antonio medical facility and his Tuesday night show postponed after he experienced dehydration while preparing for the concert at the Majestic Theatre.
The venue posted about the update on Facebook, citing the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s manager, Michael Vrionis. Vrionis said he was making the announcement with “profound disappointment” but added Santana was “doing well.”
“Out of an abundance of caution and the health of Mr. Santana, the decision to postpone the show was the most prudent course of action,” Vrionis said in a statement, adding the show will be rescheduled for those who bought tickets.
The U.S. leg of Santana’s “Oneness Tour” had just kicked off on April 16; the musician was scheduled to travel to Sugar Land and Oklahoma next.
It’s unknown how many of his upcoming dates he could miss, having suffered his second health emergency in three years. Santana, 77, collapsed on stage while performing in Michigan in 2022–another situation his team attributed to dehydration as well as heat exhaustion.
This is a developing story.
