SAN ANTONIO — A high-speed chase through Wilson County ended Saturday afternoon when deputies arrested a Castroville man accused of stealing a pickup truck and leading authorities on a pursuit that reached 100 mph, officials said.

According to the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified around 12 p.m. of a stolen Ford F-250 that had entered the county. Deputy Pena spotted the vehicle near U.S. Highway 181 by the Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union in Floresville and attempted to make a traffic stop.

The driver, identified as 44-year-old Allen Jones, refused to pull over and continued northbound on Highway 181, reaching speeds of more than 100 mph, officials said.

Authorities said officers with the Floresville Police Department, along with Sgt. Dominguez and Deputy Moczygemba of the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, joined the pursuit. The chase came to an end when Jones lost control of the truck and crashed into the center median at U.S. Highway 181 and FM 775.

According to the WCSO, Jones was taken into custody without incident and no injuries were reported during the chase or crash.

Authorities said narcotics were found during the investigation and Jones now faces multiple felony charges.

The Sheriff’s Office thanked Floresville Police Department officers Carmona and Garcia for their assistance.

Officials also noted that multiple stolen vehicles have been recovered in the county over the past several months. Anyone with information about stolen property or the whereabouts of wanted individuals is urged to contact Wilson County Crime Stoppers at 888-808-7894 to submit an anonymous tip.
