A family’s cat was resuscitated after a bedroom fire caused moderate damage to a Northeast Side home late Wednesday night, SAFD said.
SAN ANTONIO — A family and their pets made it out safely after a house fire on the city’s northeast side late Wednesday night, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.
Firefighters were called around 10:08 p.m. to a home in the 4400 block of Las Cruces, near Perrin Beitel Road.
An SAFD battalion chief said crews arrived to find smoke coming from the single-story home. The fire was contained to one bedroom, with a small portion extending into the attic.
A family of five and their dog were able to escape unharmed. Medics also rescued and resuscitated the family’s cat at the scene.
Officials said the home sustained moderate damage, mostly limited to one room, and the family may be able to return later tonight.
Five fire investigators were called out to determine the cause. SAFD, EMS and SAPD all responded.
