SAN ANTONIO — A familiar Lent season favorite is making a splash in South Texas once again.

Whataburger announced it is bringing back the Whatacatch Sandwich and Whatacatch Platter for a limited time, starting February 17 and running through April 6, according to the company.

The seasonal seafood items return just in time for Lent, when many customers look for fish options.

According to Whataburger, the Whatacatch Sandwich features a wild-caught Alaskan pollock fillet coated in seasoned panko breadcrumbs and fried until crispy. The sandwich is topped with lettuce, tomato and tartar sauce, all served on a soft bun. Customers can customize the sandwich by adding American cheese or pairing it with Creamy Pepper Sauce for extra flavor, the company said.

For those with a bigger appetite, the Whatacatch Platter includes two crispy fish fillets served over fries with tartar sauce on the side, according to Whataburger. Jalapeños are also available for customers who prefer a little heat.

Whataburger said the Whatacatch Sandwich meal, which includes a medium fry and drink, starts at $9.49, while the Whatacatch Platter meal starts at $11.99. Prices may vary by location.

Whataburger said the Whatacatch items will only be available for a limited time, so don’t let this one swim away!
