Caught on Camera: Shootout on southwest side ends with man shot in the head, fighting for his life in the hospital

One neighbor says when she looked out the window and saw the gunfire, she ran and hid.

SAN ANTONIO — Residents tell KENS 5 they were shaken up when a shooting broke out in their neighborhood. They were able to provide door camera video, showing how it all went down.

Police say the shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday night at the intersection of Flair Drive and Kilkenny, near SW Loop 410.

In the video, you can first see a white truck driving to the intersection of Flair and Kilkenny. When the truck is at the intersection, more than a dozen shots can be heard going off.

It’s not clear if the white truck was involved.

Then 45 seconds later, a second car also drives to the intersection and to the left of the screen, you can see shots being fired. More that 20 rounds can be heard going off.

We spoke with one neighbor who didn’t want to go on camera, who says her mother was at home when the shooting happened.

“She looked out the window and she saw the vehicles shooting back and forth and she ran to hide,” the neighbor said.

The neighbor says she didn’t notice until the morning, when her mother found a bullet hole in her car on the driver’s side door.

“When she woke up, she saw they had shot her side of the vehicle,” she said.

Police say the car involved in the shooting ended up at a pawn shop, just a few blocks away on Valley Hi Drive near SW Loop 410. The victim and driver waited there for help.

Police say the 21-year old victim had been shot in his head and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

SAPD EAGLE was brought in to search for the suspect but police were not able to find anyone.

According to police, shell casings were found on Flair Drive.

The neighbor we spoke with says it’s usually a quiet neighborhood but now it’s left her mother feeling uneasy and she’s concerned for her children’s safety.

“Especially because she watches my children here. So now I’m afraid to bring them over here after school but what can you do? She can’t move out of this house,” the neighbor said.

If you know anything about the shooting you can contact the San Antonio Police Department.
