Caught on camera | Truck riddled with bullets in alleged road rage incident in northwest SA

KENS 5 spoke with the victim’s mother, who is thanking God that her son is alive, after more than a dozen bullets were fired at his truck.

SAN ANTONIO — In a Ring camera video provided by a neighbor you can hear more than a dozen shots fired in what police are calling a road rage incident.

KENS 5 spoke with the victim’s mother who says she thanks God her son is alive after 13 shots were fired at his truck.

The shooting left her son’s truck riddled with bullets, shattering the back windshield and leaving large bullet holes on the side of the truck.

The shooting happened just after 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon on the northwest side at Brookfield, near Timberhill and Ingram Park Mall.

Police say one of the drivers cut the other one off and they both ended up at a stop sign on Brookfield.

The two drivers started shouting at each other, according to police, and that’s when one of them thought the other had a gun. That driver took out his gun and started shooting.

No one was hurt and both drivers stayed at the scene.

The mother of the driver of the truck says her son didn’t have a gun.

“Thank God that nothing bigger happened. The truck can be replaced you understand but a life cannot be replaced,” the mother said.

The woman says her son admits to cutting off the other driver and says the incident has left her son shaken up.

“I know that this is going to affect him. He’s distraught right now. There’s no reason that a gun should have been taken out,” she said.

Police say homicide detectives were called out to the scene to investigate the shooting to see if charges would be filed.

“My son is going to have to press charges because these type of crazy people that have guns. It’s to defend yourself when they attack or rob you, not for something stupid like this. He shot to kill him,” she said.

The road rage incident is still under investigation. No word yet if any charges will be filed.
