CBP apprehends five people unlawfully in U.S. during 24-hour operation in Hidalgo

Customs and Border Protection officers in Hidalgo arrested five people found to be unlawfully present in the U.S. during 4 separate enforcement actions in 24-hours.

HIDALGO, Texas — Federal officers in the Rio Grande Valley carried out four separate enforcement actions in just 24 hours, resulting in five arrests, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers assigned to the Hidalgo Port of Entry, along with Special Response Team operators, apprehended five individuals determined to be unlawfully present in the United States.

The arrests happened Feb. 19 and took place either outside residences in the Rio Grande Valley or during vehicle stops. Authorities say all five individuals were taken into custody without incident.

The group included three Mexican citizens and two Honduran citizens. Officials said one of the individuals had previously been removed from the United States three times.

“Our frontline CBP officers and SRT operators formed a tactical team and successfully apprehended five illegal aliens discovered to be residing in the U.S. in four separate enforcement actions,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez of the Hidalgo Port of Entry. He added that the cases demonstrate the tactical skill and versatility of officers working both at and away from the port.

CBP says the individuals were processed for alleged violations of U.S. immigration law.

The agency did not release additional details about the individuals or potential charges.
