CCISD athletic director makes Dave Campbell’s 10 Influential Women in Texas High School football list

Marshall has been the district’s AD for nearly two decades. It comes as she is set to be inducted into the THSADA Hall of Honor later this year.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Longtime Corpus Christi Independent School District athletic director Brenda Marshall was named one of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football 10 Influential Women in Texas High School Football this week.

It comes as she is set to be inducted into the Texas High School Athletic Directors Association Hall of Honor later this year. Marshall has been the district’s AD for nearly two decades.

She was recently recognized with the 2024 Jody Conradt award, which is an annual award for commitment to advancing females in athletics. Dave Campbell’s honored her for Women’s History Month this week.

She said it is an honor to be on the list and all of the ladies on it are well-deserving. A Corpus Christi native, she has worked for CCISD for 39 years. She explained what made them successful in athletics while she has been there.

“You take everything personal, in the point of view that you want to do the best you can,” said Marshall, CCISD athletics senior director. “You want to make up for maybe what we didn’t have when we were growing up, and you want to make sure that all the kids, the coaches, the parents, everybody, the fans have a great experience.”

Marshall said that includes great facilities for them to go to.

She explained the women on Dave Campbell’s list all know each other—sharing a bond through their positions in athletics.

Marshall and female Coastal Bend coaches also gather monthly for “Seat at the Table” meetings, which includes discussing challenges of being a female coach.
