CCPD arrest three overnight in crackdown on reckless driving

CCPD cracked down on dangerous driving overnight, arresting three people for speeding. One of those drivers was going more than double the speed limit.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Police cracking down on dangerous driving overnight—arresting three people for speeding. One of those drivers was going more than double the speed limit.

Just before 11 p.m. Friday night, officers spotted a gray passenger car flying down ocean drive at 95 miles per hour—in a 45 zone. The driver, an 18-year-old, was pulled over and arrested for reckless driving. His car was impounded, and he was taken to the City Detention Center for booking.

He wasn’t the only one, police caught another driver pushing dangerous speeds around 12:35 a.m. Saturday. 

Officers say they spotted a vehicle speeding westbound on Highway 358, hitting 115 miles per hour in a 60 mph zone. The driver, a 37-year-old, was pulled over and also arrested for reckless driving. The suspect’s vehicle was impounded, and he too was taken to the City Detention Center for booking.

And just over an hour later—police said they stopped another super speeder. It was around 1:49 a.m. Saturday, officers spotted a vehicle racing westbound on Highway 358—hitting speeds of 105 miles per hour.

The driver, a 17-year-old, was pulled over and she too was arrested for reckless driving. Her vehicle was impounded, and she was taken to the City Detention Center for booking.
