Check your bottles! Topo Chico recalled due to bacterial contamination risk

The recall is for Topo Chico Mineral Water glass bottles sold in late May.

HOUSTON — Coca-Cola has issued a voluntary recall of certain Topo Chico Mineral Water products sold at select Costco locations in Texas and Louisiana due to potential bacterial contamination.

The recall affects Topo Chico Mineral Water packaged in 16.9-ounce (500 mL) glass bottles, sold in 18-packs with the lot code #13A2541. The impacted products were purchased between May 20 and May 29, 2025, according to a letter sent to Costco members.

Pseudomonas bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, can be found naturally in water sources, including mineral water. While the health risk for healthy individuals is considered very low, those with weakened immune systems could experience minor health effects if exposed.

Coca-Cola emphasized that product safety and quality remain its top priority. The company is urging customers who purchased the affected lot to return the product to their local Costco for a full refund. The lot code can be found on both the case and the neck of the bottle.

Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Coca-Cola at 1-800-GET-COKE (1-800-438-2653).
