SAN ANTONIO — Boil season is about to get a whole lot bolder in San Antonio.
Texas native Chef Jason Dady is bringing a new seasonal crawfish pop-up, CrawDady, to The Rock at La Cantera, adding another flavor-packed concept to the growing food and entertainment hub, according to event details released this week.
Located at Frost Plaza, CrawDady will serve hot, seasoned-to-order crawfish and Southern-inspired sides every Friday through Sunday throughout the spring.
According to organizers, the menu features multiple flavor options designed to reflect Dady’s “playful and creative approach to cooking.” Guests can choose from Dry Cajun, the pop-up’s signature dry spice blend; Wet Cajun, made with butter, Frank’s Red Hot and a house spice mix; Viet-Cajun with ginger, lemongrass and “Funky Butter”; and Italian Garlic Herb.
The pop-up also will offer shareable sides including boudin balls with grain mustard remoulade, boudin sausage links, chicken and sausage gumbo served over bay leaf rice, and jalapeño-white cheddar hushpuppies finished with Kewpie mayo and lime.
CrawDady officially kicks off Saturday, Feb. 21, with a free-entry, free-parking celebration beginning at 1 p.m. The opening will feature live music from Aaron Montano-Teague, followed by a Spurs vs. Kings watch party at 7 p.m., according to organizers.
The event also will highlight Dady’s neighboring concepts, including Lil’ Bros BBQ Shack, Ice Ice Dady and Roca & Martillo.
Following the kickoff, CrawDady will operate Fridays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Frost Plaza, 1 Spurs Way.
Organizers say the pop-up is part of The Rock’s continued push to offer seasonal eats, live music and community-driven programming throughout the spring.
