The fire remains under investigation.
SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Fire officials are investigating a house fire that broke out near Balcones Heights Monday afternoon.
Fire crews were called to the 2400 block of Clara Lane for a structure fire around 3 p.m.
Officials say one person was inside the home but was able to escape unscathed. A chihuahua was also found by firefighters inside the home and was promptly returned to the owner.
No injuries were reported.
According to officials, crews have seen an increase in fire activity recently.
The SAFD urges the public not to leave candles around unattended, clean the lint traps in dryers and ensure space heaters are serviced and properly used since these are common causes of house fires.
Officials say the wind played a factor with crews trying to contain the flames but the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
No other information was provided.
