China Grove police find stolen car from Houston in middle of road on southeast side

China Grove Police saw a disabled vehicle in the middle of the road at the intersection of Club View Drive and Southcross.

SAN ANTONIO — Police discovered a stolen vehicle in the middle of the street on the southeast side Tuesday afternoon.

China Grove Police were returning to China Grove from another part of San Antonio when they saw a disabled vehicle in the middle of the road at the intersection of Club View Drive and Southcross.

Officers tried helping the occupants move the car and noticed the occupants would not say who was driving the car. The occupants also did not want to touch the car, police say.

Police say the officers then ran the license plate and found out the car was stolen.

The car was reportedly stolen at gunpoint from the Houston area, authorities say.

One person was detained for questioning. The police are also looking for another person.

The incident happened near Pecan Valley Elementary School.

The school district issued the following statement:

“Today, at 2:22 p.m., the campus entered a Secure according to the Standard Response Protocol. It is imperative to know the difference between a Secure and a Lockdown, they are not remotely near the same thing. The San Antonio Police Department was in pursuit of suspects nearby. Out of an abundance of caution, the school ensured everyone was safely inside. At no point were any students or staff threatened or in danger. The Secure was closed at 3:08 p.m. Release is not affected.”

No other information was provided.

This is a developing story.
