Cielo Nightclub in Austin closing after 16 years

The club will host its final night on Saturday.

AUSTIN, Texas — Austin’s longest-running Latin nightclub is set to close its doors.

Cielo Nightclub, located at 505 Neches Street, will host its final night Saturday after 16 years in business.

“It’s with a heavy heart that we announce after 16 years of showcasing the best in Latin music and culture, we will be closing our doors after this weekend,” the club announced in a post on its Instagram account Tuesday. “Thank you for being a part of the Cielo family, and for all of the love and support over the years.”

The nightclub first opened in 2009 and quickly gained traction as the city’s premier Latin party headquarters, featuring a mix of banda, reggaeton, cumbia DJs and other Spanish-language music.

“Without a doubt, your patronage supported our long journey, allowing Cielo to be a fabric of Austin’s Latin community,” the Instagram post continued. “The memories generated are endless, and so is our gratitude for your loyalty and support.
All good things come to an end eventually, but WHAT A RIDE IT HAS BEEN!!!”

The post continued, thanking customers and encouraging the public to come by for its last day. However, the post concluded by teasing to something else possibly coming down the line.

“When one chapter closes, a new one begins! Stay tuned to what’s coming next,” the post concluded.
