City asking for your thoughts on how to improve the San Antonio River Walk

San Antonio is seeking public input to enhance the iconic River Walk, aiming to boost business growth and visitor experience.

SAN ANTONIO —  The City of San Antonio is asking for help from the public on how to improve one of the city’s most iconic treasures, the San Antonio River Walk.

The Office of Historic Preservation has a digital survey now open asking for input on a strategic plan to improve the River Walk. The survey takes less than four minutes, according the organization. The city says everyone is invited to share their thoughts and ideas, whether they are locals or tourists.

The River Walk was originally developed as a linear park and green space. By the 1940s, improvements began as part of flood control and beautification and development has continued over the last 80 years.

The city’s goal is to support buisiness growth, facilitate activation and overall improve the River Walk experience for residents and visitors.

“As a centerpiece of our historic downtown, it is important that we make investments which ensure the long-term success and growth of the River Walk,” said Shanon Shea Miller, Director of the City’s Office of Historic Preservation. “We encourage everyone to complete the survey. This feedback is crucial and helps us make sure the River Walk continues to be a source of pride for our residents.”

The survey is open until 5 p.m. on January 31, 2026. Those who take the survey are eligible to win a River Walk staycation prize package.

To help get the word out about the survey, the city has put up QR codes with links to the survey all along the River Walk.

You can find the survey here, as well as additional public input opportunities, draft documents, and a project timeline
