SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio city councilman has announced he’s running for mayor.
Manny Pelaez, the city councilmember from District 8, made the announcement on Tuesday in a YouTube video.
He made this statement on his official campaign page:
“As your city councilman, the district’s needs are my number one priority! I’ve listened to your feedback throughout the years and in response, my team and I have influenced change through policy, brought home many wins every budget session and we even roll up our sleeves to work alongside city crews and volunteers to make improvements in our neighborhoods. It’s this sense of duty that makes all the difference in our community. Like you, I want safe neighborhoods, quality infrastructure and beautiful parks and trails – a great place to live, work, and play!”

He is the second city council member to announce a run for mayor. District 9 City Councilman John Courage announced his run back in January.
The General Election for San Antonio Mayor and City Council takes place in May 3, 2025.
