JAMAICA BEACH, Texas — This Easter weekend, police on Jamaica Beach weren’t looking for eggs on the shore.
The City of Jamaica Beach warned of cocaine packages washing up after they say a ship’s crew started dumping large amounts of packaged cocaine into the Gulf as they were being raided by authorities.

Strange things washing up on Texas’ coast
This isn’t the first time strange things have washed up along Texas’ coast.
A few years ago, Jace Tunnell, the director of community engagement with the Harte Research Institute of Gulf of Mexico Studies at Texas A&M Corpus Christi discovered dozens of doll parts washed up along the shore.
Tunnell said they also find interesting — and sometimes dangerous — creatures, like fireworms that can cause “massive pain” if they sting you.
Tunnell said the worms are “some of the gnarliest looking creatures in the ocean.”
“The reason it’s called a fireworm is because when it stings you it feels like fire,” Tunnell said. “If you touch it, it can get stuck in your skin very easily and it causes massive pain for about three hours.”
