City of Marshall partners with local radio stations to support economy and community amid water supply repairs

The city, in collaboration with several local radio stations, is encouraging residents to dine out this weekend and in the weeks ahead.

MARSHALL, Texas — The City of Marshall is continuing to urge residents to reduce water usage due to recent water supply repairs. A recent partnership between the city and local businesses will encourage residents to support the community.

A boil water notice was issued for the City of Marshall on Wednesday due to a 24-inch water main break.

The city, in collaboration with the Marshall Economic Development Corporation, the Greater Marshall Chamber of Commerce, 92.3 FM The Depot and KMHT Radio 103.9 FM, are encouraging residents and visitors in Marshall to dine out this weekend and in the weeks ahead. City officials said many dine-in restaurants had to temporarily close during recent water infrastructure issues.

“We are coming together to support restaurants, staff and servers who have been affected. We want to show local support and generosity over the next few weeks and eat local and tip big,” said Marshall City Council Member Dathanial Campbell in a statement released by the city Saturday.

Next week, local radio stations are holding gift card giveaways. During this time, city leaders will be in the community saying thanks to residents for their patience and understanding while repairs took place.

As of Saturday afternoon, residents should now have access to water for essential needs, including hygiene, toilet flushing, handwashing and food preparation with boiled water. The community is still asked to be conservative with water usage, and only use water for necessary purposes.

A boil water notice remains in effect until the system is operational and water quality testing confirms it is safe for consumption.
