ODESSA, Texas — Ector County Sheriff Mike Griffis has confirmed that two people died in the plane crash that happened Tuesday morning.
Odessa Fire Rescue dispatched multiple units to the 6800 block of Alderfer Avenue in response to the incident. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke and flames engulfing several mobile homes and shop buildings.


Significant damage was also reported to power lines and a business on Yukon. Witnesses indicated that a small aircraft had taken off from Schlemeyer. The City of Odessa stated that initial damage shows the aircraft struck power lines on Yukon and traveled nearly a block before crashing in the alley near 68th Street, between Alderfer Avenue and Stevenson Avenue.
Crews are currently on the scene. The aircraft has not yet been identified. Further details will be provided as they become available.
The post also noted that Odessa Fire Rescue successfully rescued a woman from a burning trailer home, and she has been transported to the hospital.
The post further stated that two vehicles and a carport are engulfed in flames and that firefighters are working to contain the fire from reaching a nearby house.
