SAN ANTONIO — The City of San Antonio and Bexar County are joining forces to try to stop domestic violence.
They’re hosting a vigil on Monday to give families of domestic violence victims to a chance remember their loved ones and raise awareness.
Last year, 17 people died from domestic violence in Bexar County.
According to the Texas Council on Family Violence, Texas had the highest domestic violence death rate per capita in the state.
The National Domestic Violence Hotline says one out of three women in the U.S. will be affected by domestic violence in her life.
Monday’s vigil is meant to just help bring more awareness to the problem. The vigil will be at Main Plaza at 10 a.m.
Local leaders will be speaking about the importance of domestic violence awareness month. Families of victims and survivors of domestic violence will also share their stories. A moment of silence will be held to honor the lives impacted by this tragedy.
The event will be held at Main Plaza at 10 a.m.
