SAN ANTONIO — The City of San Antonio has released a statement after reported complaints about high parking prices at a recent concert event earlier this week.
Officials said the city has adjusted parking fees for the “premium spaces” near the Alamodome for major events as of October 1, which range from $10 to $60.
Previous rates were between $10 to $40, according to the city.
Officials said “the adjustment reflects a thorough analysis of parking costs at comparable venues within our competitive set.”
The city compared these prices to the premium parking spaces for the Taylor Swift concert at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans which cost $100 per space. Officials also said the upcoming Katy Perry concert at the Austin Moody Center is expected to include $110 rates for the closest parking spaces.
Officials also said there are other parking options including the Via Park & Ride for $1.30 each way, and ride sharing apps.
The city’s statement said patrons will be informed of parking rates when purchasing tickets and via signs at the venue.
