The city would fund $489 million, also through hotel and tourism-related taxes.
UTSA released new polling on two propositions that will be the Nov. 4 ballot related to Project Marvel. The data shows the city is still closely split on those ballot measures.
Prop A would fund upgrades to the Frost Bank Center and Freeman Coliseum. County leaders see this is an important step in the possible move of the Spurs to downtown, in order to keep the Frost Bank Center fresh and able to attract large events. That will be funded with $193 million from hotel and rental car taxes, which will mostly be paid by tourists.
Prop B is for the county to give $300 million to help build the new Spurs arena downtown as part of Project Marvel. This would also come out of the venue tax applied to hotels and rental cars.
The new arena would cost around $1.3 billion total. The city would fund $489 million, also through hotel and tourism-related taxes. The rest is expected to be paid through the Spurs paying the city rent for the new arena and property taxes from new construction downtown.
The UTSA poll showed for Prop A (Stock Show and Rodeo), 44% of people surveyed were in support, while 41% of people were opposed. For Prop B (New Spurs arena), 40% were in support and 46% were opposed.

Despite more people being opposed to Prop A, the study also showed more people were in support of moving forward with Project Marvel than were against.

The study showed that 45% of people were in support of moving forward with Project Marvel while 40% were opposed.
The election for those two propositions will take place Tuesday, Nov. 4.
