College Football Playoff top 25 ranks Aggies at No. 3 in first poll of the season

Texas A&M sits at No. 3 in the first College Football Playoff rankings for the 2025 season.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Texas A&M comes in ranked third in the first College Football Playoff Top 25 poll of the season. The Aggies are one of the few remaining undefeated teams in the country with an 8-0 record.

A&M trails only No. 1 Ohio State and No. 2 Indiana in the initial rankings. The Aggies are also the highest-ranked SEC team, ahead of Alabama, Georgia and Ole Miss.

Texas A&M is one of nine SEC programs featured in the top 25. This marks the Aggies’ highest CFP ranking since the playoff format began in 2014. The 8-0 start is also the program’s best since 1992.

Following a bye week, the Aggies will travel to Columbia to face No. 22 Missouri on Saturday — a matchup that could further bolster their playoff résumé. A&M’s remaining schedule includes key conference showdowns with South Carolina and Texas, which could determine whether the Aggies stay in the hunt for their first-ever College Football Playoff berth.

The next CFP rankings will be released Tuesday, Nov. 12.
