Police say Jerry Reid Mills will spend 20 years behind bars after he was convicted in a case involving the sexual assault of a child.
GARDEN RIDGE, Texas — The Garden Ridge Police Department said Thursday that a man in his 70s was convicted in a case involving the aggravated sexual assault and continuous sexual abuse of a child.
Police said an investigation into the allegations against Jerry Reid Mills was launched in January of 2023. When made aware of the allegations, police say Mills fled the state to avoid prosecution.
Authorities obtained arrest warrants for Mills, according to police, and he was arrested in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where he was booked into jail without bond.
Police said Mills was brought back to the Comal County Jail where he was booked with a bond set at $200,000 which he later posted.
Last month, police say Mills was convicted in the case of indecency with a child and received a 20-year prison sentence.
