Community helps SA business recover after thief caught on camera taking off with Spurs merch

Business sees surge of support following vandalism and burglary.

SAN ANTONIO — A small south-side business is seeing an outpouring of community support after vandals broke windows and stole Spurs merchandise earlier this week.

Surveillance video shows the break-in at Karolina’s Antiques on South Flores Street around 2:45 a.m. Tuesday. Owner Anthony Diaz said the suspects returned a second time to steal more merchandise, including Spurs-themed shirts.

“I don’t like to amplify the ugliness like that,” Diaz said of sharing the video online. “But I felt like enough is enough.”

After Diaz posted about the incident on social media, customers flooded the shop, quickly buying up the remaining merchandise. Diaz said the response replaced frustration with gratitude.

Shoppers browsing the store said they wanted to help a small business recover while showing Spurs pride as the NBA Finals began.

Diaz had a message for those responsible for the damage.

“Enough is enough,” he said. “Stop harming these small businesses. It’s already hard as it is.”

The store’s social media post ended with a promise to the community: “We got this. We love y’all.”
