Air Force veteran and NutriStation Pro owner Leon Mccall shares his approach to health transformations with those ready to embark on their New Year’s resolutions.
TEMPLE, Texas — As fitness enthusiasts flood local gyms this January, one Central Texas business owner emphasizes that the path to sustainable health goals starts with small steps and consistency.
Leon Mccall, owner of NutriStation Pro in Temple, brings a wealth of experience to his mission of helping community members achieve their fitness resolutions. His journey from Air Force service member to competitive bodybuilder shaped his approach to guiding others on their wellness journeys.
“Too many times, people try just to go big. They’re trying to hit the gym seven days a week and eat six clean meals daily,” Mccall explained.
Instead, he advocates for a more measured approach.
“Start by just maybe doing one or two healthy meals a day. Try to replace one bad meal with a clean one and build from there,” Mccall said.
The same principle applies to exercise habits. Mccall recommends beginners start with just one or two weekly gym sessions, gradually increasing frequency as the habit becomes established. This measured approach, he believes, is more likely to result in lasting lifestyle changes rather than quick-fix solutions that can often fade.
To help motivate the community, NutriStation Pro is launching its second “Biggest Loser” challenge. Last year’s inaugural event attracted participants, and the success stories of the top performers are now proudly displayed in the store. The new challenge aims to provide structure and support for those beginning their fitness journeys in 2024.
Mccall’s store differentiates itself through its educational approach to supplementation.
“We’re more than just a supplement store,” he said. “You often go into the store, and it’s just overwhelming. There are so many products, and you’re unsure what to take. We pride ourselves on educating the customer on what the products do and what’s in them, and we tailor everything specifically for our customers.”
For those looking to supplement their nutrition, Mccall recommends four essential products:
- A daily multivitamin to fill nutritional gaps, particularly for vitamin D and B complex
- Omega-3 fish oils for brain, heart, and joint health
- Protein supplements to support muscle maintenance and recovery
- Vitamin D3 for immune system support and mood regulation
The business is expanding to meet growing demand and opening a new location in Killeen. The new store will partner with Meal Pros, a healthy meal prep company, offering customers a one-stop shop for supplements and prepared meals.
Beyond physical health, Mccall emphasizes the mental health benefits of regular exercise.
“I’ve met a lot of individuals who have come to our store and used exercise to help them with different stressors in their lives or just to improve their mental health in general,” he noted.
As for the single most important piece of advice he’s received in his fitness journey? “Consistency is key,” Mccall stated. “Baby steps, consistency, one step at a time, and you can’t fail.”
NutriStation Pro, located on South 31st Street, Temple, TX, USA, continues to serve the community with supplements, body composition analysis through their InBody machine, and expert guidance for fitness enthusiasts at all levels, from beginners to advanced powerlifters and bodybuilders.
