The officer was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

SAN ANTONIO — A Converse police officer was injured during an altercation with a wanted fugitive Sunday night, according to city officials.

The Converse Police Department was called to apprehend Ernesto Valle, who had an active arrest warrant for unlawful carry of a weapon.

Police say Valle resisted arrest and attempted to flee and during the struggle, one of the police officers was injured. The officer was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities say Valle is currently in custody, facing multiple charges including assault against a public servant, failure to identify fugitive from justice (refused to give information), resisting arrest, evading arrest and the previous warrant for unlawful carry of a weapon.

Converse PD posted on Facebook asking the public to keep the officer in their thoughts and prayers.
