
Houston now awaits the winner of the VCU-Illinois matchup.
OKLAHOMA CITY — UPDATE: Houston beat Texas A&M, 88-57 and will advance to the Sweet 16 against the winner of tomorrow’s VCU-Illinois game.

The Houston Cougars were in control at the half in their NCAA Tournament matchup with Texas A&M in Oklahoma City. The winner advances to the Sweet 16 in Houston.
Houston led at the half, 46-28, with Chris Cenac Jr. scoring 10 points, Milos Uzan 9, and Chase McCarty adding 8 off the bench. Houston also used a smothering defense to hold the Aggies to 34% shooting. The Aggies had seven turnovers.
Josh Holloway leads Texas A&M with six points.
The winner of today’s match-up moves on to the Sweet 16, which will be played at Toyota Center in Houston next weekend.
