Caseworkers spent the afternoon filling the normally formal courtroom with colorful decorations, creating a celebration-ready setting for families arriving to finalize their adoptions.

John Lennan, a media specialist with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, said the day will be life-changing for several local children.

“This is gonna be a huge celebration because the court is going to create eight new families tomorrow,” Lennan said. “Where nine children are going to have mothers and fathers and are going to have that safe permanency that every child deserves.”

Officials said the goal is to make each child and family feel welcomed when they walk in, and to give them a moment they will remember for years to come.

As Adoption Day arrives, CPS hopes the celebration helps each child begin a new chapter in a stable, permanent home.
