Crime Stoppers and SAPD seek community’s help in solving murder of 17-year-old on east side

The suspect is believed to have taken off in a black Ford Bronco.

SAN ANTONIO — Crime Stoppers of San Antonio is offering up to $5,000 for anyone who has information leading to the arrest of the person who killed 17-year-old Devin Sanchez earlier this week.

San Antonio police continue their search for answers after Sanchez was shot dead Monday night on the east side.

According to authorities, Sanchez and his friend were meeting to exchange property of some sort near Schley Avenue and Adele Avenue.

Just before 9:30 p.m. is when an unknown suspect shot Sanchez and the friend.

Crime Stoppers released an image of a black Ford Bronco, which authorities believe is the suspect’s vehicle that may be accompanied by a passenger.

KENS 5 spoke with a man named Jonas who says he was struck by a stray bullet while cooking in the kitchen for his girlfriend.

“I stopped for a second and I realized the sound was the bullet hitting me,” Jonas said.

While grateful to be alive, Jonas is fearful and frustrated by the level of violence in San Antonio.

“I prayed to God and I told him thank you because if I would have done this in front of the stove, it would have been my spine and I wouldn’t be here talking to you all at right now,” Jonas said.

Anonymous tips in the murder of Devin Sanchez can be submitted directly to Crime Stoppers by calling 210-224-7867.
