Crime Stoppers renews call for tips in deadly 2016 road rage shooting

Police say Gilbert Aaron Rocha was killed in the early morning hours of Nov. 26, 2016, after a confrontation on the road near Huebner Rd and NW Military Dr.

SAN ANTONIO — Nearly a decade later, investigators are still searching for answers in a deadly road rage shooting that took the life of a 25-year-old man.

San Antonio police say Gilbert Aaron Rocha was killed in the early morning hours of Nov. 26, 2016, after a confrontation on the road near Huebner Road and Northwest Military Drive.

According to detectives, Rocha and several friends had just left Fast Eddie’s near U.S. 281 and Bitters Road around 2 a.m. They were driving west on Huebner after exiting Loop 1604 at Bitters when a road rage incident broke out with another vehicle.

Police say someone riding in the suspect vehicle opened fire, shooting multiple times into Rocha’s vehicle.

Rocha, who was sitting in the front passenger seat of a blue Ford Explorer, was killed. The driver was also hit by gunfire but survived.

Crime Stoppers re-released the case hoping someone who knows something will finally come forward. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to a felony arrest in the case.

Tips must be submitted directly to Crime Stoppers to be eligible for the reward, and all calls are anonymous.
