Dak Prescott won’t be saying ‘Here we go’ before *every* snap, Schottenheimer says

Prescott’s pre-snap cadence where he says “here we go” became a viral social media moment.

OXNARD, Calif. — Many aspects of Dak Prescott’s play has gone viral.

Whether it be his pre-game hip whip warmup … or his pre-snap “here we go” cadence, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback catches the eyes (and ears) of everyone. In fact, WFAA’s Jonah Javad noticed Prescott wasn’t saying “here we go” as often as he normally does.

So, we asked about it on Day 3 at training camp in Oxnard, Calif.

“You guys asked me this in the spring … I said we always tweak our cadence, but for those ‘here we go’ lovers out there, there will be some ‘here we go’s’, but they’ll also be some maybe things that’s not used,” head coach Brian Schottenheimer said. “Why would we take it away when it’s got TikTok memes and stuff like that. Why would we change it? We always adjust [the cadence] a little bit.”

Schottenheimer said they want to change it up to help give them an offensive advantage. He added that Prescott’s cadence is “incredible,” noting a play in Day 2 of training camp where he made the defense jump offside and got a free play to KaVontae Turpin.

“The faithful ‘here we go’ people – he does say ‘here we go’ at times, and at times he doesn’t,” Schottenheimer said. “Like everything we do, we’re going to be multiple.”
