In four seasons with the Cowboys, McCarthy has gone 42-25 in the regular season and 1-3 in the playoffs.
ARLINGTON, Texas — After many speculated a big coaching change would soon be on the way, the Dallas Cowboys are reportedly planning to keep head coach Mike McCarthy for the 2024 NFL season, according to team officials.
This comes after the Cowboys had a disappointing 48-32 Wild Card playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday at AT&T Stadium.
Jones hired McCarthy in 2020 after Jason Garrett and the Cowboys parted ways. Before joining Dallas, the 60-year-old Pittsburgh native was the Packers head coach from 2006-2018.
In four seasons with the Cowboys, McCarthy has gone 42-25 in the regular season and 1-3 in the playoffs.
In Sunday’s loss, Packers quarterback Jordan Love threw for three touchdowns, Aaron Jones ran for three more and Darnell Savage returned an interception 64 yards for a score as Green Bay handed Dallas the franchise’s first home loss since the 2022 opener.
Romeo Doubs had a career-high 151 yards receiving a week after being hospitalized with a chest injury as the Packers won Love’s postseason debut after finishing the regular season 6-2 to grab the NFC’s final playoff spot.
Dak Prescott threw two interceptions before three mostly empty touchdown passes in another playoff flop for him and the Cowboys.
Dallas became the first team to win at least 12 games in three consecutive playoff seasons without making a conference title game.
