Dallas Cowboys restructure QB Dak Prescott’s contract, free up $36M in cap space, report says

This restructuring comes just one day after the Cowboys did the same with wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.

DALLAS — The Dallas Cowboys have restructured franchise quarterback Dak Prescott’s contract to free up $36.6 million, according to a report from ESPN’s Todd Archer.

Archer noted that this restructuring, combined with star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb’s contract restructuring, has freed up $56.5 million in cap space in the last two days.

On Sept. 8, 2024, the day of the Cowboys regular-season opener, Prescott agreed to a record-breaking deal when he signed a four-year contract extension worth $240 million, including $231 million guaranteed.

This restructuring further displays the emphasis the Cowboys appear to be putting on creating room — potentially for a hefty extension for defensive leader Micah Parsons, one of the league’s top edge rushers.

Leaders such as Lamb have even expressed their desire to bring more tools to the field in 2025. On Tuesday, Lamb posted to X saying that he wants to win and knows it’ll take a lot to do that.
