Dallas native Sha’Carri Richardson speaks about alleged domestic violence incident

In an Instagram post, Olympian Sha’Carri Richardson spoke about being arrested on alleged domestic violence charges.

DALLAS — Olympic gold-medalist and Dallas native Sha’Carri Richardson addressed for the first time her arrest on domestic violence charges after allegedly assaulting fellow Olympian Christian Coleman.

Richardson was arrested July 27 at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport by the Port of Seattle Police Department, WFAA previously reported. Security footage showed Richardson and Coleman getting into a verbal argument before Richardson allegedly pushed and threw a pair of headphones at Coleman, officials said.

Coleman declined to participate in the investigation, WFAA previously reported.

In a series of Instagram stories, Richardson said she has been reflecting on her actions and working to move forward in a positive manner.

“I see myself, I’m taking this time to not only see myself but get myself a certain level of help that, overall, is going to reflect who I truly am in my heart, in my spirit,” Richardson said. “And not allowing this moment, but accepting this moment to be more.”

In another post, Richardson apologized to Coleman, who was her boyfriend at the time.

“I apologize to Christian,” Richardson wrote. “He came into my life and gave me more than a relationship, but a greater understanding of unconditional love from what I’ve experienced in my past. Due to my past trauma and pain, I was blocked off from not only receiving it but giving it. I love him and to him I can’t apologize enough. My (apology) should be just as loud as my actions, honestly louder. To Christian, I love you and I’m so sorry.”
