Dallas neighborhood says their street has been leaking water for two years

“You can’t do two things at one time…We shouldn’t have to live like that. It’s sad,” said Patricia Garner-Wright, Dallas resident.

DALLAS — While many anxiously wait for the holiday, Patricia Garner-Wright anxiously waits for help. Her entire Singing Hills neighborhood in Dallas has been waiting.

“May, June, July, August, September, October. This is November. This is December. Then, you want to come out,” said Garner-Wright, who told WFAA Hot Springs Court has been leaking water.

“They dug all of this up. You see it’s still leaking, right?” asked Garner-Wright.

She said the problem began last year.

“I called the water company. They hit a pipe,” said Garner-Wright.

She said water began shooting up in the air.

One time, Garner-Wright said her water bill was more than $2,000.

“You all need to fix this, and you all need to fix it now,” said Garner-Wright.

She shared video of workers as the problem leaked into year two.

“I’m going to turn this water on right here,” said Garner-Wright.

In her home, water comes out as normal; however, when she uses water somewhere else, the water pressure goes down.

“You can’t do two things at one time… We shouldn’t have to live like that. It’s sad,” said Garner-Wright.

In a statement, the city of Dallas said, “Dallas Water Utilities is aware of an irrigation system that was damaged during paving restoration work.”

The city also said they have been working to schedule repairs.

Garner-Wright said that wait is a big part of problem.

“I only see it, and this is just me, in our brown and Black neighborhoods,” said Garner-Wright. “I am simply fed up as a taxpayer, as a homeowner.”
