Dallas police officer fired for ‘unauthorized release of body camera recording,’ department says

The officer was fired on April 30 after a disciplinary hearing, according to DPD.

DALLAS — A Dallas police officer was fired after being arrested for “unauthorized release of body-worn camera recording,” the department said in a release. 

Officer Ali Toppa, who worked in the Northwest Patrol Division, was fired after a disciplinary hearing on Wednesday regarding the arrest, DPD said. Toppa’s charge – unauthorized release of body-worn camera recording – is a Class A misdemeanor, according to DPD.

It is unclear what the unauthorized body camera release showed.

No further information about the arrest or firing was immediately available.
