ARLINGTON, Texas — Dallas rapper Xavier Landum, known by his stage name BigXthaPlug, was arrested in Arlington on a marijuana charge early Wednesday, according to police and jail records.
Landum, 26, was booked into jail on a charge of possession of marijuana of less than two ounces, according to a police news release. The passenger in his car at the time of his arrest, 22-year-old Cleodist Landum, was arrested on an active felony warrant, a marijuana possession charge and a weapons charge, the release said.
Xavier Landum was driving a car that got pulled over for an expired registration shortly after midnight on North Collins Street in Arlington, the release said. When the officer walked up to the vehicle, he “could smell marijuana,” according to the release.
The officer asked both men to get out of the vehicle, and they complied, police said.
Police said the officer “could see cigarettes and a green leafy substance in the console of the vehicle.” The officer also found a handgun in the passenger door pocket of the vehicle, according to the news release.
Police found that Cleodist Landum had an active felony warrant out of Bexar County, in the San Antonio area. Officers took Cleodist Landum into custody on the warrant and then found marijuana on him, according to the release. He was booked into jail on the warrant, a marijuana possession charge and a charge of unlawful carrying of a weapon since police found marijuana on him, the release said.
While it’s not clear the exact amount of marijuana that was found in the vehicle, Xavier Landum likely wouldn’t have faced arrest at all in Dallas, where officers do not arrest or issue citations for anything less than four ounces of marijuana.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office issued the following statement:
“Cleodist Darnell Landum had a warrant issued for his arrest on May 24, 2024, for failing to appear in court. He was later arrested on February 26, 2025, in Tarrant County and is currently awaiting extradition.”
