DALLAS — Dallas rapper BigXthaPlug has been arrested, according to jail records.
Dallas County jail records showed that Xavier Landum — who goes by the stage name BigXthaPlug — was taken into custody at 2:20 a.m. Friday on charges of marijuana possession of less than two ounces and unlawful possession of a firearm. Both charges are misdemeanors, according to the jail records.
Police sources told WFAA that Landum, 27, was arrested during a traffic stop in southeast Dallas. Officers were responding to a street takeover event and saw Landum’s truck that did have any tags, according to sources. When officers approached Landum, sources said, they noticed the smell of marijuana and Landum also confirmed he had a gun in the truck.
More details were not yet available.
Landum’s arrest happened on the same morning as the release of his new album, “I Hope You’re Happy,” which features several high-profile collaborations, including with Shaboozey.
The pair filmed a music video for “Home” that closed the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge for an afternoon in June.
It’s the second time Landum has been arrested in North Texas this year. He was arrested on a marijuana possession charge in Arlington in February.
Landum has been a breakout rap star over the last several years.
In 2024, he was named to the Freshman Class of 2024 by XXL. His biggest hit, “Texas,” has more than 200 million streams across Spotify and YouTube, and local sports franchises including the Texas Rangers frequently play the song at their stadiums during breaks in games.
