DART takes action against west-side home

The DART team responds to dangerous situations and apparently this home had been on their radar for some time with a long call history and code violations.

SAN ANTONIO — Officials say that the Dangerous Assessment Response Team (DART) responded to a home on the west side of San Antonio that is considered to be a nuisance.

An outstanding warrant brought the DART team to a home in the 1800 block of West Laurel Street near North Zarzamora Street around 10 a.m.

The DART team responds to dangerous situations and apparently this home had been on law enforcement’s radar for some time with a long call history and code violation issues.

A spokesperson for DART said water and utilities at the home were cut off and that living conditions inside the home are what they consider to be “deplorable.”

SAPD has detained seven people and arrested one person. Officials say the people they found inside were not paying rent. Officers say they found drugs in plain sight inside the home. A dog was taken away from the home as well.

The property owner is deceased, so now law enforcement is trying to contact the next living relative to speak to them and get the issues at the home addressed.

This is a developing story.
