De’Aaron Fox faces former team in Sacramento as Spurs take on Kings | What to know

The Kings currently have the worst record in the Western Conference while the Spurs have the second-best record.

SAN ANTONIO — The No. 2-seeded San Antonio Spurs are taking on the worst team in the Western Conference Tuesday night.

Coming off a win in Los Angeles Monday night against the Clippers, the Spurs now travel to Sacramento to battle the Kings in the second day of a California back-to-back.

It was a late end for the Spurs Monday night on KENS 5 TV, resulting in a 119-115 win vs. the Clippers.

Stephon Castle led the way with 23 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. Victor Wembanyama added 21 points and 13 rebounds. Devin Vassell had 20 and De’Aaron Fox had 18.

The Kawhi-less Clippers wouldn’t go away and kept prolonging the game late. The Spurs eventually pulled away and won by four.

The Spurs now travel nearly 400 miles to Sacramento to face the Kings, the former team of De’Aaron Fox and Harrison Barnes.

In Feb. 2025, Fox was traded from the Kings to the Spurs in a three-team deal that also sent Zach LaVine from the Chicago Bulls to the Kings.

So every time Fox goes against the team he spent seven and a half seasons with, it’ll always be a spectacle.

In three games against the team that drafted him No. 5 overall in the 2017 NBA Draft, Fox has averaged 20.7 points and eight assists. In his one game in Sacramento, Fox put up 16 points and dished out eight assists.

Since Fox’s departure, the Kings have struggled, both statistically and in the standings. They own the worst record in the Western Conference at 18-51 and the fourth-worst record overall in the NBA, trailing only the Pacers, Wizards and Nets.

Despite their record, Sacramento has won four of their last five games. All of those games are against teams with a record .500 or worse.

The Spurs definitely don’t have a record under .500, in fact they have their first 50-win season since the 2016-17 season.

A team with 18 losses all season goes against a team with 18 wins all season.

San Antonio will look to continue its strong season against a struggling Sacramento squad.

How to watch

The game will be televised on FanDuel Southwest. You can also listen to game action on WOAI 1200 and KXTN 1350.
