Deadly setup: Suspect arrested after 19-year-old shot multiple times

According to an arrest affidavit, 18-year-old Davonta Dantrell Love Jones is one of three men accused of entering Devin Farias’ westside apartment March 11.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police say one man is now in custody in connection with the shooting death of 19-year-old, Devin Farias and investigators believe more suspects were involved.

According to an arrest affidavit, 18-year-old Davonta Dantrell Love Jones is one of three men accused of entering Devin Farias’ Westside apartment in the early morning hours of March 11.

Police say the incident began just before 2 a.m., at an apartment complex along the 7600 block of US Highway 90 West, when Farias had been communicating with one of the suspects by phone about buying a gun and invited him inside. Investigators say that suspect then asked if two others could also enter the apartment.

A witness told police all three men pulled out guns once inside. Love Jones allegedly entered holding a gun in each hand.

According to investigators, one suspect robbed and assaulted Farias while the other two held two additional people at gunpoint.

Police say Farias followed the suspects outside the apartment, where all three opened fire, killing him.

The suspect who initially communicated with Farias was later brought in for questioning. Investigators say at the end of that interview, he called his mother and told her to contact Love Jones, urging him to delete everything from his Instagram account and leave his apartment.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, and the victim’s family is still waiting for additional arrests.
