Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers, all former North Texans, reunite for ‘Camp Rock’ medley

One-time North Texas residents Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers took the stage at MetLife Stadium.

DALLAS — One-time North Texas residents Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers reunited on stage this weekend for a duet that anyone born in the early aughts will recognize.

Lovato joined the Jonas Brothers Sunday Night at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey for the opening night of the band’s “Greetings From Your Hometown” tour. Joe Jonas and Lovato performed a mashup of “Gotta Find You” and “This Is Me” from the 2008 Disney Channel movie “Camp Rock,” plus “Wouldn’t Change a Thing,” from the sequel “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.”

Ahead of the New Jersey show, the Jonas Brothers identified New Jersey as their hometown, which is technically true, but let’s not forget that the brothers spent several of their formative years in Westlake.

In the mid-2000s, a class of Disney kids sprang forth from North Texas and took the network by storm. Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez and the Jonas Brothers all starred in Disney Channel shows around the same time and worked on several projects together, including “Camp Rock” and its follow-up “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.”

The duet the pair performed in New Jersey takes fans right back to 2008.

On Aug. 31, the Jonas Brothers will take the tour to the Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas. The concert was initially scheduled to be held at Globe Life Field in Arlington, but was later moved along with five other shows across the country.

Lovato recently announced that she will release a dance album after a three-year hiatus from releasing original music.
